I just came across this observation after friends here in Iguazu brought in a Hericium. I didn´t think the genus occurred in Latin America at all, and neither did they! I´m wondering, where did you get the name H. clathroides? Looks like it was described a very, very long time ago, and according to this description at MB:
has a primarily Gondwanan distribution.
