Observation 25198: Volvariella bombycina (Schaeff.) Singer

When: 2009-09-13

Collection location: Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave in NE PA

No specimen available

Notes:
I have found this type ony a few times. This one appears to be relatively fresh. The cap is densely hairy, which is not something reported in the field guides (“silky” is what I mainly see in the descriptions). This is the one reason why I did not check “I’d call it that.” Large volva is rubbery. Waiting for some spores.

Thick spore print darkish pink.
