They were growing on a grass and mossy bank at the edge of mainly coniferous woodland with Birch and Alder nearby.

The image suggests the trio belonging to the “noble” B. edulis family. Perhaps it is related to the B. variipes/atkinsonii group. I am stopping short of officially giving it a name, though, as I hate guessing. Please post further info, if available.
