Russula sp.

I found this interesting little mushroom while hiking near my home. It was growing solitary, under an oak tree, on the edge of the trail. The cap appears to be white with blotches of pale pink. It was actually bright red in some places and pink everywhere else. The stalk was pure white, along with the gills. There is some sort of growth, or mutation on the cap. I have no idea what it is, or what caused it, but I am very interested. If anyone does know what’s happening to this mushrooms, please share.

Approximate dimensions: Cap: 5 cm. wide
Stalk: 3 cm tall, 1.5 cm. thick
