Notes:
5-28-2012; In checking my notes for this Observation, I realized that I still had a spore print of this specimen. Attached photo and spores were ~ 7.1-8.9 X 3.0-3.4 microns.
I believe this may confirm that this is most likely not Boletus orovillus as suggested by Ortiz-Santana and Both in “A Preliminary Survey of the Genus Buchwaldoboletus” (page 10).

It still seems to better fit the descriptions for Boletus hemichrysus(Buchwaldoboletus hemichrysus). And as the article implies in other sections, I don’t think, at this point, that Buchwaldoboletus sphaerocephalus is a valid synonym or the same species, as indicated on MO.
