Observation 25854: Mixed collection

When: 2009-09-19

Collection location: Ryerson Station State Park, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dan Molter (shroomydan)

No specimen available

I did not notice the fairy sparkler when I took this shot. I saw it after looking though the photos when I got home. Its presence was a pleasant surprise.

This ash bolete is growing from a rotting log several inches above the ground. This seems an odd place to find a mushroom that is supposed to feed off the honeydew of aphids attached to the roots of an ash tree.

has been singled out by the uploader as the specific focus of this observation, it isn’t, technically, a Mixed collection, though having that proposal exist here in the background will allow the ob to show up in “Similar Observations” search results.

Individual observations should be uploaded of each species shown, or at least the most prominent one.
