Observation 26133: Sarcomyxa serotina (Pers.) P. Karst.

When: 2009-10-02

Collection location: West Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA [Click for map]

Who: John Carl Jacobs (JCJacobs)

No specimen available

Panellus serotinus

Notes: I’ve been finding this fungus frwequently over the past two weeks, but always much smaller than this specimen. The largest mushroom in these photos had a cap that was about 4 in. wide. Before this I hadn’t found an example with a cap wider than 1 in. It was found growing on a sugar maple.
