Growing on a hardwood stick, possibly oak. Setae present on the spines but mostly the bases. The context did not seem to be duplex. This would be a bit North of the known range of H. tabacina and it seems to be a better match for H. olivacea.

for H. olivacea, but perhaps it is this color when young? i have not been able to find a good description of this species. the setae, of course, are a strong point in Hydnochaete’s favor.
