Collection location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA [Click for map]
This loner had most of the characteristics of Boletus griseus; pale brownish gray cap, whitish pores that only bruised a little brown, brownish reticulum, and with a little reddish staining on the stipe, which was curved near base.
The spores were in the right size range, ~13 X 3.2 microns.
