Notes:
A small cluster fruiting on coarse woodchip mulch along the foundation of a house in suburban residential area. Largest cap: 4.5 cm., dry, hard. Cap surface and rim covered with large patches of what appears to be whitish veil remnants; shallow gills (if that’s the correct term) because most of the cap is filled with flesh. See image # 3061. Stipe: 3 cm. X 1.6 cm., dry, firm, enlarged at base and attached to copious amounts of mycelium and some white rhizomes. KOH negative on cap and stipe, pale yellow on stipe flesh. Obtained a white spore print. Only trees within 30 feet were a planted Crabapple and a Bradford Pear … probably not relevant.
