Observation 26577: Rigidoporus populinus (Schumach.) Pouzar

Found growing on a dead maple is one is very large weighing in at 7 lbs The fruiting body is some what soft and moss and algae ore cover the top. I Wonder if there is some sort of a symbiotic relationship going on there, spore print is white. The name Oxporus populinus is a misnomer this grows on maple not poplars. Apparently was once called Fomes connatus
