I had a very satisfying time today, becoming more familiar with the difference between Rhodocollybia butyracea and Gymnopus dryophilus. They were essentially growing in the same places and can look strikingly similar.

In the first photo, the top row is Rhodocollybia and the bottom row is Gymnopus. In the second photo, the left three mushrooms are Gymnopus and the right three are Rhodocollybia.


Upper 3 are Rhodocollybia; lower 4 are Gymnopus. Growing together.
