Yes, they were on rocks.

but possibly two different species. Will need chemistry and number of spores per ascus to get anywhere. But the good news is, if you can manage this, there is a key to all the species of the world, so we have a good chance of naming them.

looking at both photos closely it is obvious that the close-up is not from a portion of the lichen in the other photo with well-developed apothecia, however there are similar ostiole-like apothecia in both photos. OP, if you have any more photos or info it would help a lot! Thanks for posting!

if the two photos are from the same species. The second photo (with well developed apothecia) seem like a Pertusaria on rock. Which one?

Seems like a Pertusaria or Aspicilia
