Observation 26765: Gymnopilus luteus (Peck) Hesler

When: 2009-10-06

Collection location: Plainfield, New Hampshire, USA [Click for map]

Who: John Carl Jacobs (JCJacobs)

No specimen available

Notes:
Gymnopilus luteus

Common name: Yellow Gymnopilus

Notes: I think these Gyms were growing from another maple log, but it was a little too rotten to be sure. This log was so rotten and water logged, that I was easily able to pull the wood apart with my fingers. These were the last fresh Gyms that I found, everything since has had soft flesh and slimy caps, always starting at the apex and spreading.
