Schizophyllum commune (Split Gill)

This identification comes from Else Vellinga at UC Berkeley to whom I sent my own pictures, hoping for identification. She recognized the pictures immediately as Schizophyllum commune (Split Gill). Turns out she wrote a paper on this species: Mycena News, v.64, no. 9, May 2013.

Same mushroom species, same small size seen today, low down on leafless (but I think not dead) poplar tree. Amito at Drury, Oakland, CA.
