approx. 20mm across and emitted a rather foul odor. Unfortunately it was the only specimen but as we visit this spot regularly we may well find more in the future.
Could be a number of things. Crepidotus ( brown spore) There are a couple of Clitopilus sp similar ( pinkish brown spore) A Lactarius sp (white spore) Cheimonophyllum sp (white spore) Marasmiellus sp (white spore) this also turns wood yellow and has a strong scent. I don’t think it belongs with Pleurotus as they are tongue or shell shaped with decurrent gills.
