Observation 275825: Agaricus L.

Growing sandy area next to creek that floods with both fresh and tide water. The larger mushrooms in the ring were developing big grey scales. Short stipe didn’t have noticeable scales and the ring was short and felty. When cut, the mushroom stained a deep rusty red (one photo shows cut stipe next to red of milk bottle cap). Smelled a bit ‘fishy’. I took it home and dried it, so if you want a sample, I can send it somewhere.

Quarter placed to the right of mushroom for scale.
Red plastic milk bottle cap placed next to cut stipe to show color of staining.
Shows staining from cut with serrated knife on mushroom flesh.

Color change red, stocky, cracked top.
Is also, really close to the ground, in sandy soil, in small clusters.
Taste briny.
