“On the basis of the host, distribution, and molecular data of the A. americana angiosperm clade, we consider it to be an independent species; it is described as A. angiospermarum, although it does not have distinct morphological differences from A. americana s. str. A. angiospermarum grows on angiosperms and has a distribution in North America only, while a common species on gymnosperms and has a wide distribution in North America and Asia (Looney et al. 2013; Malysheva and Bulakh 2014; Wu et al.2014). Morphologically, A. angiospermarum differs from A.heimuer by its slightly larger basidiospores and absence of a medulla, and from A. villosula by longer abhymenial hairs.”
