… even with the Fatto & Kibby guide. I keep telling myself “I don’t do russulas”. :-)
This one was ‘easy’ since I already IDed in the past (well, kind of), but with russulas you never know. It’s a conifer associate, so it can pop up in the spring and in the fall (obs 224590). We get it the NJ Pine Barrens quite a bit in certain years, and last May it had the distinction of being one the first mycorrhizal mushrooms there — obs 238746.
