Observation 277855: Inocybe (Fr.) Fr.

When: 2017-05-30

Collection location: Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

Specimen available

Open woods with mature oak, pine, Norway spruce, and hemlock present.

Cortina present, and this appears to be an extension of the radial fibers seen on the cap surfaces, almost like a universal veil.

Growing about 2 feet away from obs 277854. I think these are the same species as 277854, only a younger version. Both collections feature finely fringed/serrate gill edges, and at 400x the spores looked the same, ellipsoid 7-9 × 4-5. (Photo came out okay for this observation.)

400x, in KOH.
