Habitat info:

Growing in leaf litter/alkaline soil under a large Quercus stillata (post oak) with Quercus fusiformis (ecarpment live oak), Ulmus crassifolia (cedar elm), and Juniperus ashei (ash juniper) as the more dominant trees in the area; also present are Diospyros texana (Texas persimmon) and Dermatophyllum secundiflorum (Texas mountain laurel) with some common south Texas groundcover such as Mahonia trifoliolata (Agarita) and Forestiera pubescens (elbow bush) also in the area.
