On fallen Sassafras albidum var. albidum branch approximately 9 inches in Diameter. Very sheltered location. These have persisted in excellent shape during the two weeks (EDIT: now nearly 30 days … END OF EDIT) since encountered.
Example specimens being dried at home. This log had a few to spare.

Also after 4 days… new growth on end of log.

A different one further down the log that looks like it’s possibly changing?
Pulled back the bark on some smaller ones to see the point of attachment.

I have no criticisms. If you could find and link to more info on this species (cited references other than a FB ID), it would benefit both you and the audience.
