Observation 278775: Xylaria Hill ex Schrank

Notes:
stromata up to 25cm. long, certainly etiolated from having to come up through as much silt and sand from recent landslide. sterile, lower, buried portions of stromata firmly affixed to rocks, giving the initial impression of being saxicolous. rocks actually serving as a mid-length foothold between woody substrate and surface.

Substrate: growing from deeply buried Bibosi wood (Ficus sp.) of varying diameters.

Habitat: secondary lowland tropical rainforest, regularly subject to landslides and some human disturbance. adjacent to golf course and horse pasture.

Ecoregion: Southwest Amazon Moist Forests (NT0166)
