Found on soil in mixed woods including white pine. Cap dry and centrally depressed. Cap diameter and stipe length both about 5 cm. Stipe diameter 6 mm. Gills subdecurrent. Stipe hollow. No basal mycelium. Cap, gills, and stipe all bruise orange progressing slowly to black. No distinctive odor. KOH on cap initially negative, slowly dark brownish black.
