Edge of lawn near wood border where mature shagbark hickory, small oaks, and mature white pine are all present.

Looking at the numbered amerirubescens species on Amanita Studies, it seems difficult to match this. Maybe sp-04…? I was headed out of town when these appeared, so I didn’t get any into the dryer. By the time I got back home, both the harvested one and the other left in-situ were destroyed by insects.

Considering the discussion found at obs 138348, it seems that proposing even at the level of generality “amerirubescens group” is not a sure thing.
