We have obtained an nrLSU sequence for this species…

…and a small fragment of an nrITS sequence—-too small to submit to GenBank and apparently disjoint from the LSU sequence. Neither sequence is posted in GenBank or in our local data base for the Caesareae. The closest matches several % distant distant from you new sequences are all in the early diverging group of section Caesareae which includes such taxa as banningiana, ristichii, spreta, virginiana, and pachysperma. We have never been able to extract DNA from the few specimens of pachysperma avialable to us in the past. We will have to do some microscopy to see if the present material could fall in pachysperma.

From the list of known species, the only reasonably good morphological match would be pachysperma. We will report.

Very best,

It looks like there might be a weak ring on the stem.
