Several fruitings found under youngish wild plum, tulip poplar, blackberry, and the adjacent weedy trail edge. Clump height above ground 6 cm. “Root” section 2+ cm long x 1.2 cm wide. A notably crumbly species. Internal flesh white but quickly turns dirty lavender and eventually more frankly vinaceous purple. Taste on arrival is bland but develops an alum astringency and then mild bitterness.
