This material sent to me by Dario has been moved to the University of South Florida (USF) Herbarium. The accession number is USF 297957.

Thanks, Dario, — I now see what you mean

I guess I thought at the time that staining in patrioticus was not always reliable. For example, my only example of that taxon from NJ, obs 178379, which was sequenced, didn’t show much bluing on the flesh and didn’t blue on the pores. Now I have quite a few good examples of patrioticus from you from last year, so perhaps it’s time to get one of them DNA barcoded for the record.
Now I am thinking this collection (279822) and the one from last year are not bicolor or pallidoroseus; maybe they are not even in Baorangia or Lanmaoa. Unfortunately both examples are very young and the morphology is not well-developed to make any firm conclusions. It would be nice to get hands on a mature specimen eventually. Thanks for posting!

You’re right this isn’t B. Patrioticus.

I am not sure about this one about being patrioticus – looks a bit like bicolor instead. Did it exhibit the same tri-color staining pattern as obs 279820 – I cannot tell from your photos?
Also, it seems like you included some pix of freshly-cut 279820 here, whereas the ones posted to that observation show the same sectioned pieces only much later, as the staining has already faded.
