Lone bolete growing in predominantly hardwood forest.
Cap, ca 8” diameter; red, yellow at surface when red eaten; cap context white.]no staining when cut.
Pores. Yellow when young, darkening with age; staining blue immediately when bruised; staining blue when cut.
Stipe. Red surface; netting on undamaged surface; context bright yellow; no staining when cut.
KOH/Ammonia. Reactions on cap, pores, and stipe. Minimal change – a few spots of yellow on cap context with KOH.
