Observation 281095: Amanita stirps Sororcula

Found in soil, in mixed woods (Eastern White Pine, Oak), solitary specimen. Cap plane, ~ 1 cm in height, gray/brown, with scattered pale grey, floccose warts. Dry, possibly sticky when wet, margins striate. Gills white to cream, free, with numerous short gills of varying lengths. Stem tapers, ranging from just under 1 cm in width at cap to 2 cm at base. Stem white to tan, no annulus, with lower portion of stalk covered with grey/brown veil remnants. Stem base without apparent basal bulb or volva.
