Observation 281647: Amanita submaculata Peck

A NJMA foray collection. The bulb was not collected entirely (flesh brittle/waterlogged). The lower part of stipe discolors dull raspberry-red upon handling.
The material has been preserved for RET.

As I mentioned before, 2017 was a productive year for a number of typically less than common amanitas, such as atkinsoniana, solaniolens, submaculata. Recall that we saw quite a bit of submaculata at NEMF, too.
