Yes, looks familiar, but not in the expected way

Dario, I think this could be the same mushroom Geoff Balme collected in NC last year, obs 254746. It looks similar to the oak-loving ‘subvelutipes’ types from the north (OH, NJ, NY), but genetic analysis of Geoff’s collection showed that it’s different from all the red-pored boletes that have been sequenced for me so far.
