No, I have not! I’ll look into it. Is there a particular resource for Amanita ID that you recommend? I’ve generally paid more attention to boletes so far in my area.

Have you considered sect. Validae? The cap lacks marginal striations (striations can be lacking in sect. Amanita sometimes) and the bulb, though severely damaged by insect/slug activity, gives a slight impression of having had clefts. I don’t know enough about volval structure to reliably differentiate between the two sections. Rod’s help would be much appreciated here.
