Observation 28772: Russula Pers.

Notes:
Currently drying this collection of 2 sporocarps, taken from where Macowanites was discovered earlier this month. This collection does not appear to have the cross-hatching of the gills that the earlier collection had, and am trying to get a spore print now.

Recognized by sight: No spore print on white paper after 3 days. Note the curious frosted covering to the cap and the pinkish tint to the base of the stipe. Will be sending it along with earlier collections to OSU Herbarium for identification. I don’t believe I notices the pinkish-tint to the stipe before.

Both less than 2.5 inches tall. The largest specimen is/was (now drying) 3 inches across the cap. Is that an inflorencense (a kind of powdery coating) on the top of the stipe?
