Observation 289357: Polyporales sensu lato

Notes:
Several mysterious (to me anyway) specimens fruiting atop a fallen log in mixed hardwoods forest. Average size = 4 cm. long, 2 cm. wide, 1.1 cm high. Lumpy blackish-brown surface with fibrils that clump together when touched (may be due to moisture). Moist context has white and grayish concentric rings, visible when bisected. 3-4 angular pores/mm. Please see photo captions for additional information.
