I doubt it’s either variipes or nobilis. I could be the same taxon as Geoff Balme’s obs 254730. I will probably look into a second round of sequencing of those Alloboletus collections in my possession.

I would call these B.nobilis or may be B.variipes.

The gestalt morphology of this collection has all of the hallmarks of and is consistent with the porcini sensu lato, including – most importantly – the “stuffed” pores (a partial veil-like layer of hyphae covering the pore surface in young age).
