Cap (5.5 cm) dark yellowish tan and very velvety. Flesh cream but reddish brown just under the cuticle. Flesh staining slowly just a bit pinkish. Pores yellow, large (~1 mm), bruising bluish very slowly, becoming elongate at the stipe apex, with lines continuing down the stipe about 1/3 of the way. Tubes yellow, 12 mm deep, mostly separate from each other upon tearing the cap. Stipe (5.5 cm x 1 cm) cream to pale yellow with reddish to brownish dots and streaks; pinkish where there is insect damage. Chemicals: ammonia on cap flashes blue then turns reddish brown, negative on flesh. KOH black on cap, negative on flesh, Fe negative on both. Growing singly in a logging road in an area of oak and white pine.
