Shelf fungi found on 1 cm wide birch branch found in leaf litter in mixed second growth forest, following first rain after 2 months of drought. Ambient temperature 20C.
Specimens discovered are small, ~1cm., and curled as it desiccated overnight. No noticeable aroma, but observed a texture and subtle flavour reminiscent of popcorn when fungi was dehydrated. Minute ridges on the underside confuse the observer as to whether it is a gilled or polypore fruiting body.
