Found along the Appalachian Trail in the Roan Mountain, Tn. area near Mountaineer Falls Shelter.

One of the largest Amanitas I’ve ever found.

Unfortunately there is no specimen to be had. This was a picture taken over a year ago during my Appalachian Trail hike, as are most of the others I recently posted. But The location is fairly spot on. It was found just north of the 400 mile marker along the Appalachian Trail if anyone in that area wants to try to find some.

Amanita albemarlensis is plausible ID.

This species is not previously known from TN.

Is “no specimen” correct?
