maybe A. lavendula group (formerly A. citrina in eastern NA). Actually, looking again I think I see a farily prominent bulb on the stipe base.

There was a very thin annulus on the stalk (I should have taken a separate closer picture). The color is pictured perfectly from what I saw in normal vision.

It’s likely an Amanita. The gestalt suggests section Vaginatae, except when viewed in zoom mode. there appears to be an annulus-like thing on the stalk. (May just be some grass or a twig?) But also, the cap margin shows only very short/indistinct striations. So maybe something else? Is the cap color seen in the photo an accurate representation of what you observed in the field?
