I believe there is work going on with C.anomalus group and I am by no means expert either. If you could send me a bit of the collection, and wouldn’t mind me using this photo, that would be great.

These were in a poorly drained area with mostly oak, beech, and hemlock. The purple cap color fades quickly to brown as they mature. No significant taste or odor. I didn’t scope these and am not terribly interested in corts, so my ID process probably involved scouring Cortinarius from Mycoquebec and picking a name. I have a collection of 7-8 frbs if you or anyone else is interested. I’ve seen C. anomalus but am not very familiar with it. C. anomalovelatus is completely unknown to me. I’ll fall back to calling this Cortinarius section Anomali. Thanks Shannon.

Hi, what kind of mixed woods? I would have said (probably mistakenly) thought this was a more purple C.anomalus. I looked briefly at what’s written on C.azureus and it seems that it is sometimes the name given (incorrectly) to collections of C.annomalovelatus. I am not disagreeing, just curious how you make this ID.
