Collection location: Wenham, Massachusetts, USA [Click for map]

Who: Chris Neefus (Chris Neefus)

No specimen available

Habitat: mixed beech and hemlock forest
Substrate: end of dead beech log
Abundance: Few
I’ve been finding quite a few of the pink variety that Roger Phillips calls var. rosea
but often there is a white form with longer spines on the same tree or log. I’m starting to think var. rosea is just early developmental stage. Note the pink droplets on one of the small ones.
