Growing near the ground on old wood.
Cap 13 cm across and velvety.
Whitish edges and pores bruising reddish brown.
Flesh rubbery, creamy and slowing turning light brown when cut.
KOH on cap very dark reddish brown and eventually black.
Taste mild. Seemed to have an anise odor.
Tube layer only 1-2 mm deep.
Could not get a spore print.
