I did not perform this process on this particular observation. However, if you take a look at my observation #289744 you will find a photo of the pore surface peeled away. Have not found this too difficult to do with a needle and some patience. I have seen this fungus a number of times now and know it by sight. The pore surface, to me, has a distinctive look. Can you peel the pore surface off? Gloeoporus dichrous has a peelable pore surface that is somewhat gelatinous when fresh. It can be difficult to peel, but should be able to be peeled away from the flesh.
