I am so frustrated with Peltigera

I have a feeling that if I line up all the specimens I picked so far in recent years, I can bridge the gap between this species and that, and than between that one and the next one, and so on, where there is no distinctive border between the species.

for true P. praetextata. Most of what’s in eastern North America is something else, call it “sensu lato”.

some thalli appear veinless when viewed from above, so at first I thought it was P.elisabethae. Fruiting and fruitless thalli intermix on rocks, appearing to be different species.
