But unless the collector learns to note the odor, the id is up in the air…

A white spore print would eliminate Entoloma (one of the options that Noah was considering), and it doesn’t look like the lamellae run down the stipe (as in Clitocybe), but rather are distinctly notched (as in Tricholoma).
