Maybe Hygrophorus discoideus var. californicus?

Based on Douglas Smith’s observation of Hygrophorus discoideus var. californicus, this might be a better name to apply to this. I need to look up H. speciosus and H. hypothejus and figure out why I used the first.
this looks a lot like Hygrophrus hypothejus, up everywhere at Yuba Pass right now
(10/16/2011).
