5 very young buttons of Matsutake buried in the sandy duff beneath Doug fir and western hemlock. Only harvested one and left the other 4(covered) to mature, as I plan to return here in a few weeks to harvest.
This same canopy last season had pounds of mature(flags) of matsutake and much more fungal abundance in general. It was nearly 70 degrees here today. Late season for sure.
