Notes:
A gregarious fruiting (some small rings, some arcs) on compost covered by straw at the edge of mixed woods. All parts of specimens colored some shade of blue-violet including cap, gills, stipe, flesh and even some of the mycelium. Larger cap: 14 cm., dry, glabrous, notched gills. Gills and cap surface fading to pale violet-buff with age. Stipe: 9 cm. X 3.5 cm. at midpoint, fibrillose, soft flesh, enlarged at base with copious white mycelium (some blue-violet areas). Strong fruity odor, reminiscent of orange extract. Pinkish-buff spore print. KOH = pale yellow on cap and flesh.
