I do need more “options” when I identify fungi. Field guides only offer few species for a genus, mostly common ones.

is P. lenta. The ones seen in this observation are likely not this species. (Just thought it a good idea to add some general info.) I see P. lenta in PA some years, and other years it seems to be absent.

I don’t recognize it.

Our most common “terrestrial” Pholiota is P. angustipes. Also P. spumosa often grows from buried roots.

Spores 5.4-5.9 × 3.5-3.8. I can’t say for sure they grew from the ground because they were right next to a rotten log. What other species you think it might be?
